Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+!!!

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ officially announced by Samsung!!

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have officially been announced by Samsung, and a lot of the leaks and rumors we saw ended up to be true.

By now we all knew what the phone would look like, and the actual release has confirmed all our suspicions. The specs of these phones are quite something so here they are:

Display: The S8 and S8+ have a display that Samsung call the 'Infinity display' giving the user and edge to edge screen, with bezels cut down to minimum size and maximizing the screen, with a Full HD+, which can be changed to a Quad HD+ resolution. The S8 has a 5.8 inch display with 570 ppi while the S8+ has a 6.2 inch display with 529 ppi. You're probably thinking that the phones must be huge, but really since the bezels were cut down the phones themselves fit comfortably in the hand and aren't bigger than the body of their predecessor the S7. Both of the phones have an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. A way Samsung was able to cut down the bezels was by getting rid of the home button, and the navigation keys all Samsung users (including myself) are used to. Now the home button is embedded into the display, and is pressure sensitive, so when you're phone is locked you can use the pressure sensitive navigation home key to unlock your phone.

Camera: The S8 and S8+ have the same camera as the S7 and S7 Edge, but they have a new feature, image processing. Now this doesn't mean that the phone will take photo's faster, what it means is when you take a photo the camera will capture multiple photos and select the best out of those photos. It will then piece together the remaining photos with the best photo to create one beautiful shot.

Selfie Camera: The selfie camera on the S8 and S8+ has been bumped up to 8 MP from the 5 MP selfie camera on the S7 and S7 Edge. Not only has the camera quality been upgraded, but the camera now focuses on the faces it can read in the shot and makes their faces more focused. The phone has a F1.7 lens, and smart auto focus (the face detection I was talking about). The camera app now has stickers, so you can accessorize your face in your selfies like you do with Snapchat.

Rear Camera: The rear camera however is the same as the S7 and S7 Edge's with a F1.7 lens and a 12 MP Duel Pixel Sensor. The phone is also able to shoot in 4K video and has a low-light camera that takes the most amazing shots in the dark. Now since the camera has a Duel Pixel Sensor it has that crazy fast auto focus we saw on the S7, which can take amazingly focused shots of moving objects. And luckily the rear camera is flush with the phone, without that annoying camera hump that Apple still hasn't ditched.

Security: The Galaxy S8 has incredibly amazing security measures. It has the IRIS scanner that we saw on the Note7, a new facial recognition software and face detection for unlocking your phone, a fingerprint scanner that's now on the back of the phone (in kind of an awkward position) and the same password, PIN, and pattern unlock that has been on Samsung phones for generations. And now with Samsung KNOX the S8 and S8+ are way more secured than the previous generation Samsung phones.

Hardware: The new S8 and S8+ have gotten updated processors, and according to Samsung their new flagship phones now have the worlds first 10nm processor. The phones will also be running on a Snapdragon 835, and presumably and Exynos variant. Samsung also claims that the phones now have a 10% more powerful CPU, and 50% more powerful GPU for better gaming and more efficient use of the phone. The phone still keeps the IP68 Water and Dust Resistance found on the S7 and S7 Edge.

Audio: The S8 is not only said to have better audio, but now the S8 and S8+ will come with headphones tuned by AKG out of the box, which means the phone will have a 3.5 mm headphone jack (thanks Samsung for not following in Apple's path) and a USB Type C charging port.

Storage: The phone also comes with 64 GB of storage out of the box, and expandable storage via a microSD card slot expandable up to 256 GB.

Bixby: With the S8 and S8+ Samsung have released some new features, and one is their AI assistance Bixby. What Bixby is, is Samsung's answer to Apple's Siri and Google Assistant. You can even use Bixby to scan objects and other different products and Bixby will scan them and give you related results on that product/object. Samsung want Bixby to be so user friendly, they actually gave Bixby it's own physical button on the phone bellow the volume rocker. With Bixby you can use it to scan buildings and give you recommendations of restaurants and other buildings in the area. You can also use Bixby to scan text and translate it into a preferred language. Bixby can also scan wine and give you recommended prices on it, it's name, and places of retail. Bixby can also scan images and give you related searches to what you're looking at, like your cat, and Bixby also scans QR codes, so you can say goodbye to those annoying apps. Bixby also learns more about you're usage habits each time you use it.

Samsung Dex: With the release of the S8, Samsung has also announced Samsung Dex. A way to turn you're phone into a full desktop. All you have to do is plug your phone into the Dex dock and connect it to a desktop and get right to work. You can use it to edit a PowerPoint, or a Word document or an Excel spreadsheet on your phone using a desktop, without having to back it up.

The phone is said to come in a wide range of colors, including Midnight Black, Orchid Grey, Maple Gold, Arctic Silver and Blue Coral, and there will be more color variants as the phone is officially on sale in stores on the 21st of April, and the phones are now available for pre-order now. But I think I'll wait until people start using the device before I make any decisions of purchasing it, just in case the Note7 fiasco is coming back to haunt them...
